How TB Testing Works

TB skin testing is completed in two short appointments.

Step 1 – Assessment & Test Administration

During your first visit, your nurse will:

• Complete a brief health and TB risk assessment
• Review relevant medical history and previous TB testing
• Provide education on the testing process and aftercare
• Administer the Mantoux tuberculin skin test
• Schedule your mandatory follow-up appointment

Step 2 – Test Reading & Documentation (48–72 Hours)

You must return within 48–72 hours for your test to be read.

During this visit, your nurse will:

• Assess and measure the injection site for induration
• Interpret results according to clinical standards
• Document findings clearly and accurately
• Provide your official TB Skin Test Certificate
• Report results if required (e.g., employer, school, or regulatory body)
• Offer guidance if further follow-up is needed

If the follow-up appointment is missed or occurs outside the required window, the test may need to be repeated.
