Island Nursing: Expanding Expert Care from Home Support to Advanced Nursing

Tracie Robertson and Gillian Johnson are long-standing nursing professionals whose careers have been closely connected for many years. Each has successfully led her own business, yet they’ve consistently collaborated, supported one another, and shared a commitment to exceptional client care. Their professional partnership has always been rooted in trust, respect, and a shared vision for high-quality nursing services.

When Gillian chose to sell Island Nursing, Tracie stepped forward to carry its mission into the future. Her goal was not only to preserve the strong legacy Gillian built, but also to strengthen and expand access to specialized nursing services in the community. Under Tracie’s leadership, Island Nursing continues to evolve, creating a seamless bridge between home support and advanced clinical care, ensuring clients receive the right level of expertise at every stage.

Our Core Values

Island Nursing team

At Island Nursing, our values shape every decision we make and every interaction we have with clients and families. They reflect who we are as clinicians and as people guided by integrity, advanced skill, and a commitment to dependable, compassionate care.

In a health system where delays and fragmented support can create real risks, our values keep us focused on what matters most: clear communication, consistent follow-through, and nursing practice grounded in expertise, dignity, and respect.

These principles are the foundation of the calm, coordinated, high-accountability care our clients rely on.

  • Island Nursing is built around nurses with specialized, post-graduate training in high-acuity areas—especially complex wound care, lower-leg circulation and compression assessment, ostomy troubleshooting, and foot care. We bring hospital-level skill into private community care, with evidence-informed practice and a sharp eye for the details that change outcomes.

  • We don’t just provide a service—we stay with the problem until it makes sense and improves. That means troubleshooting what isn’t working, adjusting care plans when healing stalls, and connecting with the right providers when escalation is needed. When a condition is complex or the system feels hard to navigate, we bring persistence, coordination, and experienced clinical judgment—so you’re not left guessing, waiting, or starting over.

  • Better care depends on consistency. Our clients are supported by a small, coordinated team—not a rotating cast of unfamiliar faces. You’ll see nurses who know your history, track subtle changes, and communicate clearly with each other to keep your plan on course.

  • Health doesn’t wait for business hours. We offer 24/7 on-call troubleshooting for urgent situations—because complications can escalate quickly, and reassurance matters when something changes at midnight.

  • Island Nursing delivers care in-clinic or in-home, depending on what fits your life and mobility. Our goal is to make care feel discreet, calm, and manageable—without sacrificing clinical rigor.

  • We live here and we care. We offer Island care, built for Island realities. When conditions are difficult — storms, distance, uncertainty — we problem-solve and show up. We’re committed to dependable service across our region, with the flexibility needed to support clients where they are.

  • Everything we do is grounded in professional integrity and human dignity. We treat people as individuals—not cases—while seeking the best outcomes and supporting the emotional and family stress that often comes with complex health situations.

  • We stay current with evolving clinical guidelines and training to protect outcomes and safety. Our promise is continuous learning, clinical accountability, and care that reflects what nursing can be at its best: smart, steady, and deeply responsive.

Our Team of Dedicated Professionals

Our team is made up of highly skilled, compassionate individuals who hold themselves to the highest standards of excellence. Each member brings unique expertise, a strong commitment to quality, and a genuine dedication to the people we serve. Together, we create a supportive, trusted environment where professionalism and care go hand in hand.
